Here in North Germany along the coast we very often have changing weathers. First sunshine, the day looks good, and suddenly wind and rain.
People plan to take a nice long walk in the afternoon, and suddenly it starts to rain. Well, people think, such a crap, and then they change plans and don’t go outside anymore.
But there are few others who keep saying that the weather is always right, only the clothes should be adjusted. So they put on suitable rain gear and still go outside and make a wonderful hike in the fresh air.
Some make themselves dependent on the weather and let themselves be influenced by it. Others get the freedom and do what they want, regardless of the weather.
And that’s exactly how it is in business life. The news release the latest economic forecasts, sometimes rather negative. Most entrepreneurs begin to save, cut back on investments and adjust to a worsening sales situation.
They let themselves be strongly influenced by these forecasts and modify the plans accordingly.
Few other entrepreneurs remain their freedom and decide for themselves what the economic outlook will be like; because they are making the buck and not the news.
They remain committed to achieving a specific revenue target and implement the appropriate activities. And achieve their goals as planned, completely independent of the forecasts.
It is exactly this kind of entrepreneurs who are successful and free from all external influences or constraints.
You can not influence what is happening around you. But you can well decide how to deal with it or how far you can be influenced by externals. YOU decide whether you let circumstances have an influence on your plans.
Surely you should be careful and pay attention to what the economy is doing and what is happening around you. But successful entrepreneurs never let themselves be controlled by news.
They never allow obstacles which appear on the way to change their goals. They keep the target in mind and perhaps trim the methods slightly. Nothing will make then deviate from the goal.
They make decicions by themselves, always, according to the direction of the goal, and ONLY by the goal.
